pourquoi faire un zine sur Frankenstein? pour répondre à l'appel de dossier «It’s Alive!» du mbca pour une prochaine exposition qui soulignera les 200 ans du roman de Marie Shelley. Et je viens d'apprendre que mon livre a été accepté pour l'exposition!

le thème de l'horreur est très très loin de moi. je suis définitivement sortie de ma zone de confort. c'est sans doute pour ça que ça m'a pris un certain temps avant de trouver le fil conducteur de ce zine.

Frankenstein ne voulait pas être méchant mais comme, de par sa construction, il était un monstre, tout le monde en avait peur alors il a fini par faire peur pour le vrai.

qui fait peur de nos jours? j'ai pensé à ces gens hyperbotoxés qui deviennent de véritables monstres à leur tour par la chirurgie et de leur plein gré.

il s'agit donc d'un «love match» entre Frankenstein et une femme à son image.

le livre me permettait d'être un peu brouillon vu le sujet. j'ai fait des dessins, des collages manuels et digitals, j'ai fait de l'impression manuelle et laser, le tout relié à la main avec un fil teinté.

il s'agit d'une petite édition. «Frankenstein is looking for love.» est un livre de 24 pages, + couverture, format de 5,5" x 9". il s'agit avant tout d'un livre d'images et de dessins. le texte se résume à deux citations en anglais.

why make a zine about Frankenstein? to answer the call "It’s Alive!" of the mbca for the next exhibition which will highlight 200 years of the Mary Shelley novel. And I just learned that my book was accepted for the show!

the theme of horror is very far from me. I definitely went out of my zone of comfort. that's probably why it took me some time to find the common thread of this zine.

Frankenstein did not want to be mean, but, due to its construction, he was a monster, everyone was afraid of him, so he eventually scares for real.

Who scary us these days? I thought about these people with too much botox who become real monsters by the surgery of their own free will.

it is therefore a "love match" between Frankenstein and woman in his image.

the book allowed me to be a bit messy given the subject. I made drawings, manual and digital collages, I did manual and laser printing, hand binding with a colored thread.

this is a small edition. "Frankenstein is looking for love." is a book of 24 pages + cover, size 5.5 "x 9". it is primarily a book of pictures and drawings. the text comes down to two quotes in English.
